About Steve Davis

Steve Davis taught the Fall class that produced content for The Stand newspaper and website and that took the trip to South Africa in December/January. He has been at the Newhouse School since 1999, and is chair of the Department of Newspaper and Online Journalism. Before that, he worked at a number of newspapers, including time at USA TODAY as National Editor and Washington/World editor. (He was Washington/World editor at the time of Nelson Mandela’s release.) In addition to founding The Stand project, he has written two books since he arrived at Newhouse, including Think Like an Editor, 50 Strategies for the Print and Digital World, and Click on Democracy: The Internet’s Power to Change Political Apathy into Civic Action.
